Why we built Ordops
Ordops was created to solve a problem every contractor knows too well: the chaos of managing a business across scattered spreadsheets, late-night messages and messy paper trails. Quotes in one place, planning in another, invoices somewhere else entirely. We saw tradespeople spending their evenings writing quotes at the kitchen table instead of resting after a long day on site. We knew there had to be a better way.
Headquartered in Haarlem, the Netherlands, our team builds the all-in-one platform that brings planning, quoting, time tracking and financial oversight under one roof — accessible from any device, on any job site. We designed Ordops specifically for the construction and trades industry, not as a generic business tool retrofitted with construction labels. Every feature reflects real workflows from real contractors, painters, landscapers and electricians across Europe.
We started by talking to dozens of tradespeople about their daily frustrations. The same themes kept coming back: quoting takes too long, planning is done on paper or in someone’s head, and there is no easy way to see whether a project actually made money. These conversations shaped the core of Ordops — a platform where you can create a quote in minutes, convert it into a scheduled project with one click, track hours and materials as work progresses, and see your profit per project the moment the invoice is paid.
In 2024 we added the AI assistant to the Pro plan. It drafts quotes and invoices from plain-language descriptions — paste a customer email or dictate notes from a site visit and the assistant produces a complete, itemised document with materials, labour and VAT. This is not a gimmick; it saves our users hours every week and ensures nothing gets missed on complex, multi-trade projects.
We also built the Ordops marketplace, a built-in network where contractors can post jobs and connect with available subcontractors and self-employed tradespeople. It removes the reliance on informal WhatsApp groups and word-of-mouth referrals, giving everyone a transparent, professional way to find and fill work.
